UMUCY ART: ux design project
The UMUCY Art project was one that was brought to life through a pivotal graphic design class I took during Fall 2022. In this class, I had the opportunity to develop my skills further in Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe XD, and Figma along with learning basic graphic design principles.
This class was really able to open my eyes to the world of graphic design, especially through this hands on project. Within this design challenge I further utilized Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator to create the UMUCY logo and created high-fi mockups with Adobe XD that implement the logo and corresponding style guide with consistent UI Elements.

Umucy Art is a grassroots organization run by and for refugees in the Nakivale refugee camp in Uganda, aiming to support and inspire creativity and art. Umucyu Art engages community members in various art forms including music, dance, painting, drawing and sculptures. Activities include conducting art workshops and classes, organizing events and performances, providing space for music and dance practice, providing for materials for painting and drawing, and creating online avenues (mainly Facebook) for showcasing and promoting artwork for purchase. Umucy Art welcomes all people, but focuses on young people, providing safe, healthy and caring environment for thriving amidst the challenges of living precariously in the refugee camps. As a grassroots organization, Umucy Art is very small, operates with little or no funding/infrastructure, and operates from volunteers’ time and donations.

LOGO USES
The UMUCY Art logo focuses on the many significant aspect of what the organization stands for. An art palette was used to signify the organization’s goal of inspiring “creativity and art.” In addition palette was combined with a globe in order to further emphasize the inclusivity of UMUCY Art and how it "welcomes all people."
High-Fi Mockups
The UMUCY Art Organization is one that is all about bringing people from around the world together through the world of art. From visual to performing art, the organization hopes to facilitate and help these artists grow and have a home where their works of art can truly be seen.
Through the website concept I hoped to represent this joy and creativity the organization brings to the community in Uganda. The light, pastel colors are used to reflect this playful theme. Along with this the colors are natural tones and coordinate with ones that can be found on a globe to push this global aspect. Images where then found to emphasize, further, where this organization is based in Uganda and examples of types of art that can be found there.
